Setting Coupon Eligibility for Certain Products

Overview

You can set a coupon to apply to specific categories or products. You can also set a coupon to exclude certain categories or products. This functionality is helpful in the following situations:

• You would like to send customers a coupon, but you do not want them to be able to use coupons on your most popular gift kits.
• You are trying to promote a specific category (i.e., "10% off all sweaters!"). 

This article describes the process to follow to apply coupon eligibility to certain products and categories.

Resolution

1. To set conditions for a coupon, log in Symphony Manage and to navigate to Promotions > Coupons > New.
2. When you get to the Applies To section, select one of three options: 
   • Entire Cart: it gives your customers a discount to their purchase total, after shipping and taxes. This option makes the coupon eligible across all products on your site.
   • Items Before Shipping: it gives your customers a discount on their purchase total, but does not discount their shipping. This option makes the coupon eligible across all products on your site.
   • Set Conditions: it creates a more targeted email that is not eligible for all products. Select this option to apply the eligibility for the coupon.  
3. When you select Set Conditions, the Product Types menu will appear. You can do one of two things:
   • Choose to apply the coupon to the following:
     • All Products.
     • Only Simple products.
     • Only Subscriptions.
     • Only Kits. 
   • If you want to be specific, use the search bar to find what you want to include or exclude. You can search using a category name (e.g., tops, bottoms, dresses, accessories, etc.) or a product name (e.g., Spring Fling Skirt, Wanderlust T-Shirt, Summer Dreams Cropped Jean, etc.). All products and categories that fit your search term will be displayed in the search results. Click Include or Exclude to choose whether this coupon will apply to a specific product or category.
4. When you have finished selecting all the items you wish to include or exclude, click the Save button at the bottom of the page to save your coupon.
